About the Local Area
Playas del Coco, translated in English as Coconut Beaches is located on the Pacific Northwest coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste; one of seven provinces located in the country. The area is known as the Gold Coast due to many golden sand beaches, stunning coastline, and variety of wildlife all along the Pacific. It is also home to the Papagayo Peninsula, best known for luxury resorts, a world-renowned golf course and marina, and celebrity tourism.

The total population of Guanacaste is approximately 350,000, this number climbs significantly throughout the year due to tourism and snowbirds. The climate is unique, it claims the smallest annual rainfall and is the driest province. The province borders the country of Nicaragua and is an easy one-and-a-half-hour drive. The local airport is Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, also referred to as Liberia (LIR), and is an easy twenty – five minute drive from Playas del Coco and area.
