The total population of Guanacaste is approximately 350,000, this number climbs significantly throughout the year due to tourism and snowbirds.  The climate is unique, it claims the smallest annual rainfall and is the driest province.  November through to April sees little to no rain, while May until the end of October does see some rain with the highest amount of rainfall being September and October.  What is considered a North American summer is also a lovely time to visit, a little rain and a lot of sunshine.  The weather can vary of course.  The capital city of Guanacaste is Liberia.  The province borders the country of Nicaragua and is an easy one-and-a-half-hour drive.  The local airport is Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, also referred to as Liberia (LIR), and is an easy twenty – five minute drive from Playas del Coco and area.
